01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Central Hong Kong, Andō presents a refined fine dining experience that artfully marries Japanese precision with Latin flair. This Michelin-starred gem invites diners into an elegant yet warm atmosphere where culinary innovation and heartfelt craftsmanship shine on every plate.

Andō’s menu is a carefully curated journey through unique flavor combinations and impeccably balanced dishes. Guests consistently praise standout offerings like the soulwarming Arroz Caldoso—a richly comforting soup rice infused with king crab, turmeric, kaffir lime, and fragrant local Yi O rice. The vibrant spices and delicate textures in this dish leave a lasting impression, wrapping the palate in luxurious, layered warmth. Equally memorable is the Spanish lamb with garbanzo beans, zucchini, red miso, and black olives, which exemplifies the kitchen’s mastery in melding bold, savory flavors with refined technique. Each bite reveals complexity yet remains comfortingly familiar, embodying the Japanese-Latin fusion concept with heart and soul.

Guests repeatedly commend the attentive, polished service that elevates the overall dining experience; staff like Stella bring a personal touch with engaging conversations about the food and wine pairings, making visitors feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. The stylish, intimate interior complements the sophisticated menu, offering a setting that is perfect for both special occasions and those seeking to explore innovative gastronomy.

While some have noted that the food maintains a high standard without a singular showstopper, Andō’s charm lies in its consistent quality and thoughtful pacing, making it a delightful destination for first-timers eager to experience Michelin-star level cuisine with a fresh perspective. Lunch offerings provide particularly excellent value, inviting diners to sample the chef’s artistry in a more approachable format.

I would say the service here was the standout. The fishers were good and well balanced and well paced. There was nothing that I would say is a clear standout. Just food well done. Overall I like Ando, just not at a repeat experience level. But if you have not been, it’s a good place to try.

Exceptional dining experience at this Michelin-starred gem in Central! Everything was outstanding, but the soup rice (Arroz Caldoso with king crab, turmeric, kaffir lime, and local Yi O rice) was particularly soul-warming and flavorful. The Spanish lamb (with garbanzo, zucchini, red miso, and black olives) was splendid—perfectly cooked and richly satisfying. The black olive sourdough bread was hands-down my favorite of the year: crusty, tangy, and addictive. And the Lisa fish (served with seaweed pancake and nameko mushrooms, paired with cava) is simply the best I’ve ever had—flaky, fresh, and elevated to perfection. As someone in the wine industry, I was truly amazed by the thoughtful wine pairings—they elevated every course beautifully. Highly recommend for anyone seeking creative Spanish-Japanese fusion in an elegant setting. Worth every penny!

The interior and hospitality were on point, with a warm welcome and lovely menu introduction. The food was standard, but I would love a kick or a surprise regarding a tasting menu. I recommend it to anyone looking for a Michelin restaurant.

From the appetiser to the final bite of dessert, this was a truly remarkable meal. Each dish was executed with incredible skill and flavor especially the carabinaro red prawns and the . With this level of consistent excellence, the restaurant is clearly operating well beyond the recognition of a single Michelin star.

I’ve been to many Michelin starred restaurants but I would say this is one of the most deserving. We had such a great time interacting with the staff who were all so keen to share and teach us about the dishes especially the ingredients and prep methods. Love how the food was so fresh everything was made with the consumer in mind. What really impressed me was the staff stopping us from ordering the menu with the most number of dishes because he knew we weren’t able to finish. He was right, towards the end of the meal we were so stuffed. I can taste the sincerity right from the heart, all the way from the kitchen to the table from dish one till the end. We were also offered an extra dessert from the pastry chef at the end of the meal.
